Manchester United ready to bid 68.4m Euro for prodigy – report

Sterling: Flyer

Cheeky Nibble?

Manchester United are prepared to test the resolve of arch rivals Liverpool with a 68.4m Euro bid for Raheem Sterling this summer according to The Sun (via BBC).

Manchester United are ready to make a £50m (68.4m Euro) bid for Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling, 20, who has stalled on contract talks at Anfield.

In what would be seen as one of the most contentious transfers of all time, Manchester United will reportedly attempt to prise the young sensation away from a club which has traditionally refused to do business with their North West competitors.

The Telegraph stated this week that the club will put a £50m price tag on the player in order to ward off potential suitors. But, in this day and age, that sort of fee wouldn’t stem the interest of the biggest clubs in the world. And, if Manchester United thought that there was a chance of getting Sterling, they would surely have a nibble at £50m.

In reality, however much he would suit the style of play at Manchester United, there has to be very little chance of a move materialising. With so many other potential suitors, Liverpool can ensure that, if he does leave, it won’t be to Old Trafford.

Final Word: Despite the hype, we still feel that Sterling will sign a new contract and play a couple more seasons at Anfield at least.

Let’s see him destroying defences.
