If latest reports are to be believed Manchester United have identified their key target for the summer.
The Telegraph reported over the weekend that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal sees the acquisition of a midfield general as his biggest priority and the Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been touted as the number one choice.

And Sunday Times football correspondent Jonathan Northcroft was quoted on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement as saying that Manchester United are indeed desperate to bring the lad back to Manchester United:
“It’s difficult because Pogba felt disrespected by Sir Alex Ferguson and he left,”
“I think he needs to be persuaded. Chelsea are in for him as well as too are PSG, but United are trying to throw money and wages at him.”
The General Manager of Juventus, Giuseppe Marotta, has responded to the fresh rumours by stating that the club is under no pressure to sell.
“Pogba is a young player with lots of promise but he is realising his potential,” said Marotta after Juve beat Genoa 1-0 on Sunday.
“We want to win and we don’t necessarily have to sell our best players. It is clear that players of this quality attract interest from other clubs but we don’t seek buyers and there has been no contact.”
It’s difficult to argue with the quality of the lad. He looks as if he may be injured for most of the remainder of the season with a muscular problem but he has once again been one of the leading lights in Italy over the last season, driving his team on to The Champions League quarter final and yet another Scudetto.
Manchester United have perhaps decided that money is no object and, despite selling him for peanuts just a couple of years ago, this is in fact exactly the right man to take this team forward.
At £60m he would probably represent the biggest signing of the summer and many believe that a winger, centre back or striker would be a better buy. But Pogba would fit in beautifully to a team which is coming back to the boil but needs a real driving force in the middle, a la Yaya Toure at his best.
