Player fees have got a bit crazy over the last few years. Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo went to Real Madrid for £80m that figure seems to be the main reference point for clubs who want top money for their stars.
And, accordingly, Manchester City are said to have been quoted crazy money for one target this summer. Talksport reckons:
Manchester City have been told they must stump up £40million to land Yacine Brahimi.
Brahimi, 25, attracted strong interest from both Tottenham and Everton before he moved to Porto from Granada last summer.
As mad fees go, we have to say that this one may ultimately represent decent value. Because we have been hugely impressed with this lad. He’s got the sort forward thrust and sense of attacking adventure that would really suit City’s lightning quick attacks and, at just 25, he’s got his best years immediately ahead of him.
Brahimi only signed for Porto last year but his performances have been excellent for club and country in that time (he’s played 14 times for Algeria and scored 4 goals).
He’s an adaptable attacking midfielder who can also play as a second striker. He’s always on the move and involved in the game. He scores goals and has excellent technique. For our money, Manchester City could do a lot worse.
Let’s take look at the lad in action. Manchester City fans: keen?
