Will Dutch Master re-join Arsenal this summer?

Robin_Van_Persie

Permanent Class

Robin van Persie is in his third season at Manchester United and he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it right now. He was awesome in his first year, too often injured in his second under David Moyes, and far from his best this year, despite being top scorer for Manchester United with 10 goals.

He clearly wants to play up top on his own but the arrival of Radamel Falcao has seen Louis van Gaal, rightly, try to squeeze them both into the starting eleven. It hasn’t worked. Perhaps they are just too similar, with the same instinct for their movements and runs, and not enough pace to complement each other.

Van Persie is struggling at Manchester United because he doesn’t work well with Falcao and there is not enough pace in the team. In this formation RvP is regularly expected to be the man to penetrate the back line of the opposition and use the channels. But he simply doesn’t have the pace for it.

Arsenal have pace in abundance but lack a really stellar finisher. And RvP is still one of the best around. Put speedy players around him and offer decent service and he’ll bag you 20 goals again next season.

He will be 32 in August but Arsenal need a clinical finisher and they could do a lot worse than to bring RvP back for a season for a swan song. The fans would soon forgive him if he started banging them in again and he’s still a far better centre forward than Giroud or Welbeck.

Arsenal fans: would you take him back?

No way! He’s lost any pace he used to have and he just doesn’t look as confident on the ball as he use to. for arsenal, he’d receive the ball on the Edge of the D and run another 3-5 yards before scoring a blinder. I just don’t see him being capable of making the same runs or getting into the right positions. Utd never give him the ball and let him roam like he did at Arsenal, they just launch long balls. Anyway, even if he scofed goals, fans would still boo him or just ignore him! We’ve moved past our RvP era, we no longer have to rely on any one player (don’t even bother saying Sanchez! The RvP era is over.

It is amazing how some Arsenal fans have no pride. This guy basically told Arsenal to f##k off when we were at our lowest point. These fans also wanted Fibergas back after he also refused to play for the club with 4 years left on his contract. Fabregas chased his heart, RVP chased money. If bot of these guys along with Nasri had stayed we would have won the PL. We have moved on and good luck to both of them with their new teams.
