This one just won’t go away will it?

Earlier in the week Gareth Bale did a well-publicised radio interview where he stated that he was exceedingly happy at Real Madrid. And he really looked happy too.

But The Star reckons that United might still pursue him:

Bale this week ruled out a summer switch to Manchester United but sources in Spain suggest Louis van Gaal is still hopeful of landing the Welsh wizard and the club are willing to reserve a huge chunk of cash to do the deal.

It must have been a big wrench for him to leave England but the hard part is over and now he appears to want to stay.

But, perhaps the most important element to this is whether Real Madrid themselves want to keep him. Bale has been decent since joining the club in 2013 – he has a fantastic scoring record of about 1 goal every two games.

But there have been rumours that Marco Reus will join the club in the summer. A player of his quality will ant to start so something will have to give.

Enter Manchester United who, it would appear, are still keen on taking the player. It’s easy to see why. Bale’s running power alone can wear most teams down – he’s an extraordinary athlete who looks in his best shape ever.

We would argue that his style is perhaps more suited to England but he’s making a fist of it in Spain and we think that he will stay there for at least this season and next.

But, if there is a sense that he is available, we fully expect Manchester United to step in.

Let’s see some of his better moments for Madrid.
