This one has been simmering for a long time and you have to feel that there is some substance to the tale. Even before ‘Birthdaygate’ there were rumours that Yaya Toure wasn’t happy at Manchester City and reports today suggest that he wants to leave the club.

The Mail says that reports in Italy claim the brilliant midfielder, who is currently on international duty at The African Cup of Nations, wants to move away from Manchester City and could well do so for just £6.7m.
It’s not likely to happen until the summer. And while Yaya Toure will be an immensely difficult player to replace, perhaps at 31, it’s time to let him go and move on to pastures new.
It will be a very sad day when he finally does leave Manchester City and England because there are few players that we have enjoyed watching more throughout Premier League history. He’s got more power than any of his contemporaries but also brings sensational technique to the party. His eye for the spectacular is the cherry on the icing on the cake. And when you look around Europe their aren’t too many obvious candidates to replace a player with such a rare skill set.
