It’s fair to say that it’s been a rollercoaster year for Manchester United’s new star Luke Shaw. When you look at the size and physique of the lad it’s easy to forget that he is still just a teenager. And the changes that have occurred in his life in the last year must have taken some time to get used to. Shaw told the typically excellent Guardian:

“You don’t actually know how big it (Manchester United) is until you sign for it – around the whole world, the fan base and everything,” he says. “The teams we played as well – it was sort of weird playing the likes of Real Madrid and Inter and still being 18, it was very nice to be playing against [Cristiano] Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. That tour helped me a lot.”

We have said it before and we will say it again – we think he is going to be one Manchester United’s greatest ever players. No pressure then!

But he also gave an insight into his new experiences playing as a wing back and suggested that he may fancy a move further up the pitch as his career progresses.

“I’m always learning, especially with the different formations it will help me in the long run to maybe become a forward player – on the wing or something.”

We definitely believe he has the raw talent to become a winger. He’s a really adventurous player with great balance, ground speed and ball control. Full backs don’t tend to score too many goals but we think that Shaw will get his fair share for Manchester United.

Let’s just hope that his injury problems are over and that he can play the majority of Manchester United’s remaining fixtures this season. Because he really needs a run in the team now to get his confidence up.

Let’s see some of the better moments for Manchester United.
