‘I don’t think he is coming back to Manchester’ says world star and ex-colleague of Manchester United’s greatest ever?

Angel di Maria has said that he doesn’t feel Manchester United idol Cristiano Ronaldo will re-join the club where he made his name form 2003-2009. The Argentine played with Ronaldo at Real Madrid before moving to Manchester United last summer in a British record £59.7m deal. And Di Maria seemed to have the inside track on current affairs with Cr7 when he said:

“I don’t think he [Ronaldo] is coming back to Manchester. It’s hard to quit Real Madrid.

“Maybe, but I think he’s having a great time and I don’t see that he wants to change.”

Ronaldo remains an incredibly popular figure at Manchester United, despite his painful departure from he club in 2009. When Manchester United announced his departure, many a grown man had to gulp back the tears as a player who would be in most serious discussions about the club’s greatest ever performer, departed just as he was coming into his prime.

But move he did and the fans have remained loyal to a forward who literally demolished the opposition, particularly in his last three seasons at the club.

Our concern now is for Angel di Maria. Did we sense a pang of sadness in his assertion that it’s hard to leave Real Madrid? We can understand that The Argentine has some sadness about his move. But he really needs to knuckle down at his new, great club, and show why Manchester United paid so much money for him.

With the business end of the season upon us, it’s time for Angel to shine.
