Barcelona are of course in the middle of a transfer ban but they can still re-sign players who are already at the club.
One footballer who has been the subject of much speculation England over the last few months is Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets. He was said to be interesting many of the top clubs in The Premier League. But latest reports in the British media suggest that he may well disappoint interested teams by signing a new deal with Barcelona.
The Daily Star reports:
ARSENAL, Chelsea and Manchester United target Sergio Busquets is close to signing a new deal with Barcelona.
After Yaya Toure left Barcelona in 2010 Busquets filled the gap in midfield brilliantly and cemented his place in one of the greatest club sides of all time. But his form has arguably dipped over the last couple of years and, with Barcelona struggling to maintain their standards, some felt that Busquets could make way.
But every top team needs an unsung hero like Sergio. He covers huge amounts of ground over the 90 minutes, puts in important tackles, shields the defence and rarely gives the ball away. He’s very much like Manchester Untied’s Michael Carrick and we would be surprised to see him leave The Nou Camp.
Let’s see him in action. Barca fans: is Sergio still the perfect anchor man in midfield or is it time to look for a fresh option in the engine room?
