Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be fighting for the services of the brilliant youngster Keita Balde Diao in the January transfer window.
Diao, who is still only 19, was born in Spain and and spent his formative years at Barcelona’s fabled youth academy. But he moved on to Lazio after spell on a loan at Cornelia in 2011 and has really caught the eye in Italy more recently.
He’s now played 23 league games for the club and chipped in with 5 goals.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal need to further strengthen their front line and, while this move may not represent the accomplished, instant hit that the fans may be looking for at their respective clubs, Diao certainly has the potential to hold his own in the top echelons of the game in years to come. Indeed, the confident young lad would argue that his record in Italy suggests that he is ready for first team action now.
He’s a really quick, fluid and exciting player who looks so happy to play the game. He’s clearly got a good eye for goal but also offers that unpredictable edge that so many of the world’s top players possess.
