Much has been made of Arsenal’s need for a midfield enforcer to make Arsenal more complete, but Mr. Wenger always seems more keen to invest in more attacking players. It’s a philosophy that every manager should adopt. But seeing as they don’t it leaves Arsenal at a massive disadvantage. Because the more Machiavellian coaches, who like defenders and midfield anchor men, generally trot off with all the silverware.
Arsenal have been linked to a young midfielder of late but he too is of the attacking persuasion. And, in what will be seen by many as a flip, the father of the player says he’s keen on a move to The Emirates.
‘If he leaves, it will be for Arsenal. It is the only club that can enable him to progress, with Arsene Wenger. He will not go to Manchester City to sit on the bench.’
In one sense this clearly intimates that Arsenal have a poorer squad than City. But, despite Arsenal’s wealth of attacking midfield options, you would still imagine that Fekir would have a bigger chance of game time in London than Manchester right now.
He certainly looks exciting. At 21, Fekir has played 24 league games for Lyon since signing in 2013, and scored an impressive 7 goals already. He’s been rewarded with the solitary France U21 cap but some feel that he will be getting selected for the seniors before long if his current form continues.
Let’s take a look at him in a action. Arsenal fans: worth a punt?
