VIDEO: ‘I want to see more games like that’ says Manchester United maestro ahead of Aston Villa game

Van Gaal: A man of character

Performance

Manchester United have finally started to turn their season around after shaky beginnings under Louis van Gaal. But, while the boss is happy with the results he is regularly at pains to point out that the performances have not been up to scratch.

Any Manchester United fan will tell you that the 6 game winning streak has not always been easy on the eye. But it’s a really positive sign that Manchester United are once more able to play badly and win. There is a renewed sense of spirit around the place and, even though there is long way to go before this team is complete, the ability to grind out results has been crucial to this campaign.

But Louis insists that he hasn’t been impressed by many of the performances and cited Manchester United’s home game against Hull – incidentally Angel di Maria’s most recent appearance for the club – as the one that he was really pleased with.

I want to see more games like that

I think also that the guarantee of wins is much bigger when we perform better

Manchester United fans will want this too. But after such a rocky ride over the last 18 months we think that it’s far better to play badly and win than to play well and lose.

Manchester United will hope to extend their winning run, which currently stands at 6, when they face Aston Villa away this Saturday. Kick off is 15:00 local time.
