Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seems to be finally coming around to the idea of spending a serious amount of cash on a midfield general.
And when assessing the market there are several really good ones that immediately come to mind. But a respected broadsheet reckons that Arsenal may well have found the perfect solution.
The Times reports:
ARSENAL are preparing a £15m bid to land Newcastle’s Moussa Sissoko. Arsène Wenger wants to sign a central midfielder during the January transfer window in the prolonged absence of Jack Wilshere, who is not expected to play again until March.
The 25 year old 6ft 29in enforcer has exactly what Arsenal lack. Midfield presence, combative skills, dynamism and …well we would have said ‘discipline’ but that might seem wide of the mark considering his sending off at the weekend.
Whatever, he’s just the sort of presence that Arsenal need in their side and at £15m he’s a snip.
Having played 218 times for Toulouse between 2007 and 2012 (24 goals) he moved to Newcastle and was an instant hero. He settled in quick time and was giving MoM performances by his second week at the club.
This form hasn’t gone unrewarded at international level either as Sissoko has earned 27 caps for France since his debut in 2009. He also took part in The World Cup and scored a goal in France’s 5-2 defeat of Switzerland.
This guy is top quality and how much better Arsenal would be with him in the side. Let’s take a look at him in action. Gunners Fans: the right man?

Yes, a “25 year old 6ft 29in enforcer has exactly what Arsenal lack” and it’s certain no other team has a player with such a physical presence. Sign him immediately and lease a very tall truck to get to the games.
