We spoke this week about the positive effect that Luke Shaw is beginning to have on the Manchester United first team. But the latest news suggests that his most recent injury, sustained in the opening half of the game against Arsenal last weekend, could keep him out of the game for the rest of the calendar year at least.
The Telegraph reports:
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw could miss the rest of the year after being ruled out for at least a month with an ankle injury.
Shaw has suffered another injury setback at Old Trafford and scans have revealed the England international may even miss six weeks in another shattering blow for manager Louis van Gaal.
The source says that the lad is currently wearing a protective boot on the left foot after scans revealed ligament damage to the ankle.
Shaw has had a stuttering start to his Manchester United campaign. He missed the first month of the season with fitness issues and a muscle strain before hurting his ankle soon after finding his way into the first team.
The games that he has put together of late have been increasingly impressive and his appearance in the side seems all but guaranteed when fit. But his injury comes at a time when Manchester United’s other two new left-sided defenders, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind, are also out with long term injuries.
