Arsenal prepare bid for superb solution in January according to report

The ideal situation is that a club always signs long-term solutions – players who can do a job now but also mature into stalwarts for Arsenal over the years.

It’s not always possible though. And sometimes experience is the key. That may be the case for Arsenal’s defence at the moment. With Laurent Koscielny out – and even when he returns – Arsenal need a composed addition to the heart of the defence.

This isn’t the first time that Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar has been mentioned in relation to The Emirates and we feel that a move is night for the Dutchman. If not to Arsenal then to another big boy.

Because, at 29, this lad is composure personified. He’s possibly just had his best year to date with an imperious performance in Brazil 2014 capping a season of great consistency and club and international level.

Is he good enough for The Gunners? We say that he would be a fine addition to a squad which sometimes looks a little naive.

The Express reckons:

Arsenal set to defy Manchester United with £8m bid for Aston Villa star Ron Vlaar

Capped 31 times for Holland Vlaar is something of a late bloomer but a decent all-rounder. He passes the ball well and has great positional sense twinned with good strength.

The Dutchman is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in around 5 weeks and someone is going to get a bargain with Vlaar. Let’s see him in action.
