According to a report in today’s tabloid press Arsenal are trying to muscle in on Liverpool’s move for a highly accomplished and experienced right back in the January window.
The Express reports:
Arsenal looking to HIJACK Liverpool’s move to replace Glen Johnson with Maxi Pereira
Capped 98 times by his country Uruguay, since his debut in 2005, Pereira has also been machine like in his consistency with Benfica, who he joined in 2007. His contract is up at the end of the season leading to speculation that he will make the move.
Arsenal are clearly in need of defensive reinforcements this January and this guy looks like an excellent, no nonsense option. A player who is a defender first and last – someone who can leave the attacking to other members of the team. Just what Arsenal currently require.
Still only 30 the 5ft 8in star has at least 2-3 years in him at the top level and he has the robust physique and rugged style that would surely mean success in The Premier League – if he can acclimatise quickly to the pace of the game in England.
Let’s take a look at him in action. Arsenal fans: should you be prioritising a right-back or a central defender in this window?
