After a few years of irrefutable progress the last few months has been strange at Manchester City. We don’t want supporters to get complacent for a second here. Let’s remember the status of the club for time immemorial before the new investment.
It’s still dreamland compared to then. But there is a feeling of stasis around the place. A feeling that, if things don’t change, then a new coach will be sought.
Manuel Pellegrini must be feeling the strain to a degree – and he will be as happy as anyone with the news that his playmaker in chief, David Silva, is back in training and may be ready to play again in the next week.
The Guardian reports:
David Silva is back in light training for Manchester City following a knee injury and is hopeful of returning for the Champions League match against Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday.
Imagine how much more easily Manchester City would have cut through a ten man United with Silva pulling the strings? Imagine how much better they might have been in Europe with his passing tempo and ability in the midfield?
No point dwelling on this things now. Suffice to say that Manchester City are a much better team with him in it and his return can’t come quickly enough.
