South American went on strike in bid to join Manchester United – report

In an era where money seems to be the biggest factor in where a player plies his trade, it’s good to hear a story of someone who seems hellbent on a particular move.

That appears to be the case with budding star Marcos Rojo. The Sun reports that the player decided to refuse to play for Sporting Lisbon after his dream move to Manchester United was cast into doubt.

MARCOS ROJO has revealed he went on strike to force his Manchester United move in the summer.

Rojo said: “I was in Portugal when my representative told me. He asked me to stay calm but I could not. I started living this dream.

The report states that he was eventually talked out of a strike by ex-Manchester United star and fellow countryman Seba Veron.

Rojo joined the club in the summer for around £16m and we think that he has the sort of spirit to be a Manchester United star.

Before his unfortunate shoulder dislocation, sustained in the Manchester derby, Rojo was starting to look more commanding in his new role at centre-back.

He could well be out for the rest of the calendar year but he has a bright future at Manchester United with his tenacity, crisp passing and pace. We like the look of him.

Let’s see some highlights. Manchester United fans: will the team miss Rojo badly or is he not particularly suited to the centre back position?
