He’s very much part of the Germany national squad that took the world by storm in Brazil. And, at 29, he should be in the absolute prime years of his career. But Lukas Podolski just hasn’t managed to cement a regular place in the side at Arsenal and his national team coach, Joachim Low, now reckons that the time may be nigh to consider his club future. He told reporters at Germany’s training camp.
“I’m aware he doesn’t play a lot right now for Arsenal.
“He needs to play competitive games. Sometimes he lacks the physical condition to play the full 90 minutes.
“He has to think about his situation.
You might say he’s been unlucky at Arsenal. He’s scored a decent 29 in 75 games while regularly playing out wide. Podolski is a great athlete and pro. But you sense that he doesn’t quite have the pace and mobility that Arsene Wenger so likes in his front line and has even played Yaya Sanogo ahead of the German on occasion.
Unless the player has an explosion of form soon you would imagine that it’s only a matter of time before the player moves on. He would certainly draw interest and you could easily imagine him making a move back to The Bundesliga.
Let’s see him banning them in at The Emirates. Are there any Arsenal fans that feel Podolski has been hard done by at the club?
