He’s just 17 years old but there is already a huge amount of pressure on the shoulders of a player seen by many as the heir to the throne of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gonçalo Guedes hasn’t yet played for the first team at Benfica but there has been talk this week in the English press about one of the European super powers taking a £40m gamble on the player:
Arsenal are in the race to sign the new Cristiano Ronaldo. His name: Goncalo Guedes.
But the Gunners will have to fight off interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and possibly even Real Madrid … and take a £40million gamble on the teenager should they make a move for him next summer.
And it’s easy to understand why Arsenal, Real Madrid and the other big boys are after him. The lad looks absolutely amazing already. He’s got sensational finishing ability which comes from, his agility and inventiveness around the box. He looks almost impossible to pick up as he floats into those dangerous spaces between the midfield and attack with effortless ease. And he already has a decent physique – he’s certainly no shrinking violet.
