He doesn’t care what you think:
David Moyes seemed concerned by what the press were saying but Louis really could not give a rat’s bottom.
Self-Belief:
After a tough start at Manchester United he was asked if he was beginning to doubt his own ability. He laughed dismissively as if this was one of the most ridiculous things he’d ever heard. This guy knows he is one of the best and he has the CV to prove it.
Calmness:
When Manchester United lose a game it’s a disaster for the fans – that is until they get to the post-match press conference where Louis calmly and assertively explains that it’s not a disaster but part of the process. And you know what? We believe him.
Style:
Whether Louis succeeds or fails at this club he is 100% in tune with The Manchester United Way. He knows that style is almost as important as the result to these United fans who are used to having jaw-droppingly exciting players in their team at all times.
In the summer everyone said he needed defenders. What did he do? He decided that the best form of defence is attack and bought two of the best forwards in world football.
He is going to wipe that smug grin off Jose’s face:
The Special One is so good that you could pretty much guarantee he would soon put a title winning team together after Chelsea’s 4 years in the domestic abyss. But under LvG Mourinho has another inordinately good opponent and one who will halt the blue domination.
Selections:
He virtually always picks the best players and even when he doesn’t he gets them playing out of their skin – Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young are cases in point.
Signings:
Di Maria and Falcao are absolute mustard. Rojo is improving all the time and is lightning fast and buccaneering. Blind is a brilliant passer of the ball even under intense pressure. Shaw and Herrera weren’t his idea but he gave his blessing to the purchases and both look to have great potential.
Charisma:
Apologies for the Moyes bashing but watching his press conference made the teeth grind involuntarily. Van Gaal has the charisma and presence to more than fill the shoes of the Sir. And he’s just as compelling to watch.
Desire:
He may not show it on the touchline but this guy is hellbent on success.
Unique Hairstyle:
It’s so short on the sides that noone has yet managed to officially confirm where the skin stops and the hair begins. In this respect, even his haircut is better than the rather shapeless bouffant of his predecessor. Apologies again David.
