Manchester City are unaccustomed, in recent times, to losing two games in quick succession. Their form has dipped of late on the back of another painfully disappointing run in Europe.
But they are still the masters of The Premier League and despite the defeat to West Ham last weekend they know how to win league games like few other teams in England.
So, while they will be weary of a somewhat rejuvenated Manchester United team, they will also be confident of a decent result if they have their big hitters fit.
And the fact that David Silva could be out for some time means that they are deprived of one such match winner. Which makes it even more important that Yaya Toure is fit for the game – we see him as Manchester City’s most important player on Sunday.
Because City’s superiority over Manchester United in the last couple of years has been due to them winning the battle for midfield. At times Manchester United have been chasing shadows as the imperious City midfield has run tings.
With Silva probably out Manchester City need a big performance from a player who has had his critics this season – mainly because he has set impossibly high standards over the last few years.
Toure is still an absolute magician – a one man team who can stride, unaided, through entire defences or hit a physics-defying shot in the top corner. He’s been a huge credit to The Premier League and we just love watching him play.
Toure can win this match for Manchester City on Sunday if he’s fit and firing. He’s still crucial to City’s success.
City fans: is Toure your key player for Sunday, if fit?
