If rumours are to be believed then Arsenal are finally taking a serious look at solutions for their problem area in the midfield.
Of course rumour doesn’t necessarily always translate to an actual transfer. But we think Arsene Wenger may finally be close to conceding that he needs a player to make Arsenal tougher to play through.
The latest in a long list of defensive midfielders to be linked to the club is Spartak Moscow’s Brazilian midfield general Rômulo Borges Monteiro.
The 24 year old spent the first two years of his senior professional career at Vasco Gama where he was hugely successful. He was then snapped up by Spartak Moscow in 2012 where he has had similar success.
His form has led to 8 caps for Brazil since his debut in 2011. He’s an adventurous player with super technique but the discipline and athleticism to play in the holding midfield role. He could be likened, in terms of his style of play to Chelsea star Ramires but with a slightly more physical presence than his countryman.
Latest reports suggest that Arsenal may bid £9.5m for the player and let Yaya Sanogo go the other way on loan for a season.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: a decent solution?
