Until a year ago the idea of Manchester United really competing with the big boys in the transfer market seemed little more than a pipe dream.
For years other clubs in Europe had outspent United and the gap was growing. But then we heard that Manchester United were prepared to break the bank for the likes of Ronaldo and Bale and we changed our perceptions.
The £60m spent on Angel di Maria further cemented the new reality – Manchester United were truly ready to buy their way back to the top.
Tabloid reports today suggest that Manchester United may make another bid for Gareth Bale in the summer.
Gareth Bale could be available to Manchester United for £90m
Anyone who has seen Isco’s form in the absence of Bale in the last two Real Madrid games will feel that this idea may not be so far fetched.
The Spaniard’s form is sensational right now and he’s almost impossible to leave on the bench. So Real Madrid will have to consider dropping James Rodriguez or Gareth Bale. On form, the latter looks likely to warm the bench in the coming weeks.
Bale, who moved to Madrid for 100m Euros in 2013, won’t want to sit on the sidelines for long and injuries could mean a quick reprieve. But Real Madrid do look more balanced with Isco in the side and we think that this could spell trouble for Bale.
In all likelihood Manchester United wouldn’t have to spend 100m on the lad. 70m Euros would probably do it. And we wouldn’t be at all surprised if he rocks back up in The Premier League next Autumn.
Manchester United fans: pipe dream or looking likely?

Getting Bale, is totally waste of money. Why MU need another left sided attacking midfielder, when MU already have another world class player in Di Maria.
MU must now strengthen their Holding Midfield and Defence. That must be MU priority.

Nani? Really? And ibreallyncant see how bale is a waste of money he’s in the top 5 players in the world and he would bring back the united old days of attacking from the wings. We only have one decent winger so we do need another one
