No Way? Manchester United to pull off sensational short-term signing of a true legend?

Hey, football is a crazy game and mad things regularly happen.

This one may seem outlandish. But, actually, is it really that far-fetched?

Manchester United need some more experience in the defence and there isn’t a stand-out, available, long-term option on the market in January.

So why not bring Rio back to the club? Reports on Tuesday suggest that the player may be dumped by QPR in January. This may tell you that his legs have finally gone after a brilliant career – he is 35 after all.

Budding author #rioferdinand may soon be spending more time on his novels as it emerges he could be on his way out of Queens Park Rangers six months after joining the west London club

maybe he could just go back to Manchester United. They need a defender

We felt that his departure from Manchester United was ill-timed and we would welcome him back with open arms. Rio is the best defender that we have ever seen in The Premier League and, with quick legs around him, he could still do a job for Manchester United – particularly in a 3-5-2. We think that this move makes real sense. It would also give Manchester United the chance to give Rio the send off he truly deserves.

If Ryan Giggs has anything to do with it we could see Rio back come January. Rio said earlier this season that Giggsy wanted him to stay on.

‘When he (Giggs) took over he made it clear I would have stayed and been part of his plans,’

Rio obviously wouldn’t be a long term solution but he could be the perfect quick fix for a defence which lacks nous. Rio could be the difference between a top four finish and further ignominy.

Manchester United fans: up for it?
