Shock Choice: Manchester United’s most likely January signing?

Gundogan - a tidy player but is he what United needs?

Superstar

Manchester United are starting to resemble a scary side once more – one who can get the ball from back to front with awesome speed and catch the opposition off guard in an instant.

It’s already a major step forward from the car crash that was last season, where Manchester United appeared to play all of their football in front of an unruffled opposition. David Moyes simply couldn’t find a way to get his team behind the defences of opposing teams. It was painful to watch.

While many feel that the biggest problem now is the defence, we still think that the midfield is too easy to play through. The first choice diamond has wonderful creativity but only Blind offers defensive cover. Herrera helps out at times but his instinct is also to get forward.

To become more solid Manchester United either need to buy a real titan or change formation – perhaps both.

Until now it was assumed that the aforementioned ‘titan’ would be Kevin Strootman or Arturo Vidal.

But latest reports suggest that a third player has come back into contention for a move to Old Trafford. The Express reports:

MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund and Germany star Ilkay Gundogan as they weigh up alternatives to Roma’s Kevin Strootman and Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.

Still only 23 the career of the German international has been blighted by injury to the extent that he’s only played one game for Dortmund since the start of last season.

But if he can fully recover from his knee problems he’s easily good enough to play for Manchester United. He’s equally good going forward as he is shielding the defence and resembles the complete midfielder despite his fairly tender age.

He has recently declared that he’s fully fit again and we sincerely hope that his injury nightmare is behind him because he’s a joy to watch.

Let’s see the lad in action. United fans: worth the gamble?
