A Manchester City XI to help struggling Toure

Man City Toure 1

Still Class

There has been an interesting, and perhaps rather surprising, response to our recent scribblings with regards Yaya Toure.

Last season’s Player of The Year for Manchester City has been one of the main catalysts for the club’s success over the last four years.

At his best there is noone quite like him in world football. Defending against Toure must be akin to having a huge rock thrown at you at a terrifying pace.

But Toure isn’t just big and powerful. He’s one of the most graceful footballers that The Premier League has ever seen, and certainly one of soccersweep’s favourite players.

But some fans of Manchester City have responded by suggesting that the club can only move forward once he is out of the team.

At 31, he may have lost some of his energy and speed. He certainly hasn’t had a great start to the season. But surely a player of this quality needs to be given more time. Perhaps if he hadn’t been involved in a wrangle with the club over the summer he would have seen a bigger demonstration of loyalty from the fans.

We think that he still merits a place in the side. Perhaps his legs are starting to go but he’s still a wonderful striker of the ball and will score goals this season for Manchester City. Perhaps it’s time to release him from his defensive duties and give him a role behind the strikers, where he can do most damage.

With Dzeko and Aguero playing so well it’s hard to imagine either being dropped, especially in home games. But in the big away ties we would be tempted to pop Toure in behind Aguero and leave Dzeko on the bench with Fernando and Fernandinho in the defensive midfield roles, fitness permitting, like so.

And even when both of the main strikers play we would possibly find a system which gives Yaya a more advanced role in a midfield diamond as below, with either Fernando or Navas on the right. Surely Yaya is too good to drop altogether?

Toure 3

Manchester City fans: would you leave Toure where he is, drop him, or play him further forward?

Yaya is class, big and strong. City are only 6 games into this new season so it’s far to soon to start a debate about dropping yaya. Stick with him and he will find his form again.

Toure is a deluded, egotistical, bone idle, waste of time, and you seriously suggest our most energetic, consistent performer, James Milner, should not be in a side designed to ” get the best out of Yaya”!!!!!! Ridiculous. We should get rid as soon as possible, but failing that when it’s obvious he isn’t performing, and that’s usually after 20 minutes, he should be substituted and just maybe if he is humiliated in that way often enough he will eventually put a shift in for the team, as they say. Yaya has to the most first player to be substituted in evrygame with that mind he will try to come back in his good form becouze he will realise that the place is for competion in evry possition at city……. He is a good player but he has confidence whats called beyond obligation since that….yaya has lost evrything in pure football

Yaya has to be the first player to be bench after every 45 minutes atleast he will get to knw the advantage of working extra hard like what he did last season…………being a good player failing to perform….eeeish too bad for him and i wish him better benched games in future if he wont change for the better at city

It is too early to criticise Toure, the league is just starting,Toure is a world class player, strong and highly talented give him tme he will soon rediscover his form and if Mancity performance is below par the blame should be on the whole team.
