Not Falcao: Is this Arsenal’s big deadline day deal?

Realism?

Arsenal fans are praying that some serious cash will be spent before 11pm on a high profile striker and Radamel Falcao is the name on everyone’s lips.

It appears that a deal is possible if Arsene Wenger is prepared to break all records to bring him to the club. But we are talking about a British record transfer fee, a 28 year old, record wages and ARSENE WENGER.

It’s not impossible and City’s FIFA FairPlay restrictions may give Arsenal the edge but perhaps it’s more realistic to suggest that Arsenal will bolster elsewhere.

Broadsheet reports today suggest that Arsenal are battling Tottenham for Matija Nastasic of Manchester City.

The Guardian says:

Arsenal and Tottenham inquire after Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic

• City would prefer permanent transfer rather than a loan deal

Nastasic may not have quite made the grade in a Manchester City squad which is fast tracked for success. But he’s an excellent prospect and one who would undoubtedly improve the Arsenal squad and become a long term stalwart.

At just 21 he’s already played 13 times for Serbia. He’s yet to develop to his physical potential but he’s quick and comfortable with the ball at his feet.

The report suggests that Manchester City may prefer that the player moves to Tottenham with the implication that Arsenal provide the greater threat to City’s crown.

We think this one has legs and will keep you updated. Let’s see him in action. Arsenal and Tottenham fans: a good addition?
