It seems that the summer has been one of polemic opinions at Arsenal. After signing Alexis Sanchez everyone seemed confident of a big season. But the injury to Olivier Giroud has highlighted Arsenal’s paucity of top quality options up top and Arsene Wenger’s stubbornness in accepting that public opinion could be right.
There is still time but Arsenal’s options seem to be running out and it’s not an ideal way to approach the last few hours of the window.
Here’s the latest on rumoured targets:
Danny Welbeck: The Manchester United star is said to be having a medical at Arsenal’s training ground in a rather surprising move for the club.
The Standard says:
Danny Welbeck is attempting to force through a deadline day move to Arsenal.
The 23-year-old trained at the Gunners’ London Colney base with the rest of the England squad this morning but Standard Sport understands he has been given permission by the Football Association to return this afternoon as he seeks to determine his club future.
And Sky Sports says he’s having a medical:

Sky sources understand Manchester United and England striker Danny Welbeck is currently undergoing a medical with Arsenal. Tottenham were also very interested in the forward.
He’s not a prolific striker but a very fluid player who can operate in several positions. He’s got pace, creativity and guile.
William Carvalho – He’s quoted as saying:
“I am under contract with Sporting and I’m a Sporting player,”
“There is no way I can say I am going to leave. I am fine at Sporting.”
Arsenal fans: Happy if Welbeck comes in and are you still confident that there will be more arrivals?
