Arsenal – Arsene ‘not against’ new midfielder – this one ?

Arsene-Wenger

Crunch time

No manager wants to see his players injured before the start of the campaign or in its first couple of weeks.

But, as injuries go, we feel that this one could be a blessing in disguise for Arsenal.

Because manager Arsene Wenger seems ignorant to the fact that the club needs to buy a midfield general- someone who can destroy and conquer – a player who can balance Arsenal’s flair with some earthy grit.

And the fact that Mikel Arteta has been injured has left The Telegraph to suggest that Arsenal will now look to add a holding midfielder:

Arsenal transfers news: Arsene Wenger says he wants a new midfielder after Mikel Arteta’s injury

Asked on Thursday morning if he could sign a new midfielder before the end of August, Wenger replied: “We are not against that, no.

We have talked endlessly about the first choice being Sami Khedira but Arsenal seem to have dragged their heals on this one – perhaps due to cash. But he does appear available after Carlo Ancelotti revealed that the player has rejected a new contract.

But perhaps Alex Song is a more obvious and realistic target for the club now.

Having represented Arsenal with merit for a few years he moved to Barcelona in 2012 but hasn’t really settled. At 26 he’s the perfect age to make the move back to Arsenal and he wouldn’t cost too much money either – so it’s a really feasible option for the club.

Let’s see him in action. Arsenal fans: would this plug the hole in the defensive midfield area?

Arsene should learn to respect the fans as well as their opinions. Some fans can be good soccer good soccer analysts or even coaches after all…Every wanting department in the Arsenal team was visible enough in the two last games against Crystal Palace and Besiktas. To be realistic as a true Arsenal fan, we need to fortify the defence and strike positions as quickly as possible. Arsene should get a strong natural centre back (not forgetting that we lack super subs for Per and Laurent), a resilient defensive (holding) midfielder and a brilliant point man.
Soccer is good business and in business, the idea is that one uses money to get more money. Moreover, winning laurels is the fancy behind every game. Arsene please spend the money and get the desired instruments for this work. Meanwhile I say a big congrats for your presence thus far in the transfer market but please Le Prof, it is not yet uhuru. This EPL season is going to be even tougher..believe it or leave it. I must say that your move towards securing the signatures of players like Manolas, Carvhallo and Reus is quite commendable. Pls Arsene, do not relent in getting these players into our fold because it will only be more meaningful to you and true Gooners to celebrate with a reveberating joy at the end of this season.
