Manchester United’s Strongest 11 with Di Maria and Rojo

Pace added

Judging by the performance against Swansea on Saturday you might easily argue that Manchester United need to buy half a team before the start of September.

The performance was poor but, in truth, Manchester United were without five nailed-on starters on Saturday. The likes of Evans, Valencia, RVP, Michael Carrick, and Luke Shaw were all sidelined through injury or lack of fitness. Rafa Da Silva and Danny Welbeck were also out. Any club with that sort of injury list is going to struggle.

In reality, if Manchester United sign two or three really good players before the end of the window then they will be have a competitive look about them again.

Marcos Rojo looks a dead cert to join the club and we think he will be a really good addition. He will not only bolster the defence but also add pace to a side which desperately lacks it right now.

The other big name being mentioned in relation to Manchester United at the moment is also from Argentina and that is of course Angel di Maria.

Manchester United are in danger of being left behind the leading pack in European football at this point, so they need to buy in top players. Although Di Maria wouldn’t be our first choice he is one of the few potentially available top-quality signings on the market right now and Manchester United surely have to act.

He too will add much-needed pace and cutting-edge to a Manchester United side which is has been sluggish in their build up play for over a year.

It will be very interesting to see where Di Maria would fit into the side, considering that Rooney and RVP are surely guaranteed starters up top in a 3-5-2 formation.

If Louis van Gaal does persist with this system then surely Di Maria will be posted as a wingback, probably on the right hand side, assuming Luke Shaw gets the nod on the left, with Rojo at centre back. One of Di Maria’s greatest assets is his engine so he could easily become accustomed to the wing back role. Alternatively, Rooney drops backs into the number ten role and Di Maria plays up top next to RvP. But, providing Mata’s form sees a sharp upward turn, then that won’t happen.

On behalf of Manchester United fans we hope that there are more than two signings before September. There is still gaping hole in the midfield but, if United don’t sign Vidal, they may wait until January for Kevin Strootman. So if only these two come in then we think the starting line up should look like this.

Manchester United fans: would you be happy with these two additions?

De Gea, Rojo, Evans, Jones – Shaw, Herrera, Mata, Fletcher, Di Maria – RvP, Rooney

Based on your selection I would be happy with just one signing. Januzaj is already a better player than Di Maria who we certainly don’t need. He is overrated and certainly vastly overpriced for the journeyman that he is. Take him out and put Januzaj in and already the team looks better.

We man u followers we r really shocked in the manner i which the transfers r handled. What is the main problem? We can not complete any major deals. Its sad,if Aturo v or Dimaria keeps on draging man u back, i believe there r so many talented lads who can perfom better than them, forget them and go after others. We can follow only two players since january to date funny. Ed woodward come on so bad.
