Arsene Wenger looks like a happy man at the moment but we can’t help thinking that the smile will turn to a grimace again come the spring, as Arsenal once more fall at the final hurdle in the title race.
That is unless they buy a midfield general. The argument has been going on for years now and it’s almost as if the Arsenal manager is not buying a holding midfielder just to spite us all.
If Arsenal don’t buy an authoritative man for the engine room and they have another season where they get close but no cigar, serious questions will surely have to be asked about Wenger’s ability to evolve this team from a great looking side to a title winning one.
Khedira and Carvalho have been mentioned, to this end, but neither deal seems to be getting anywhere right now. Both would cost a lot of cash and perhaps Wenger doesn’t want to spend the earth on a destroyer.
But another player who has been mentioned this week, and would cost far less to bring in, is Cheick Tiote. He may not have the passing ability of the aforementioned but it would still be a move in the right direction for Arsenal – a player who Wenger could bring in to shore things up in the big games, when discipline and tenacity are required as much as flair and guile.
We think that Arsenal haven’t won the title for so long because they haven’t replaced Patrick Vieira. Tiote is no Vieira but he can do a good job for Arsenal and make them more difficult to play through when they come up against the elite sides.
Bookmaker Bet Victor has opened a book on Tiote’s next club and Arsenal are EPL favourites at 5/1 to sign him, if he does move this summer. Let’s see some highlights. Arsenal fans: a worthy investment?

well, Tiote is a good player but he is below the quality of player we need for that position right now.If the deal for khedira and Cavalho proves too hard to get through, why not Morgan? we need aquality player in that position.
