Arsenal still keen on prolific Latin American forward – report

Get him in

Before the summer transfer window began many people thought that Arsenal would prioritise the signing of a striker this summer. Olivier Giroud had a great season but, beyond him, there isn’t too much specialist competition in the Arsenal squad.

But since the signing of Alexis Sanchez that hype seems to have died down as many believe that the Chilean, along with players like Theo Walcott, can cover for Giroud up top.

And although the aforementioned wingers can also do a lovely job through the centre, we think the Arsenal are going to have the same old problems, come spring, if they don’t invest in another striker.

One player who was strongly linked to Arsenal last summer and could be available is the Argentinian forward Gonzalo Higuain.

He’s had another really great twelve months and could offer the sort of explosiveness that Arsenal sometimes lack in the finishing department.

The Express reports:

Higuain was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer before eventually switching from Real Madrid to Napoli for £32.5m.

The Argentina striker is still on the Gunners’ radar after an impressive debut season in Serie A, scoring 24 goals in all competitions.

Real Madrid obviously have a ridiculous budget and don’t always get it right in the transfer market. But what we do like about them is that they constantly look to refresh, even in areas that seem already strong. If Arsenal seriously want to be the best team in England and Europe they should be going all out this summer to strengthen key areas because, when you look at the quality of the top 5, with Tottenham and Everton also waiting in the wings, Arsenal will do well to even finish in the top 4 come May, with their current squad.

Let’s see Higuain in action. Arsenal fans: does the squad still need series investment?
