Newcastle’s transfer business has intensified over the last couple of weeks and given the fans a real boost after months of misery with regards their football team.
The performance level was terrible at times in 2014 but noone felt it more than Newcastle boss Alan Pardew and he seems hellbent on strengthening this summer.
One area of obvious focus is going forward. Newcastle have signed the highly talented attacking midfielder Remy Cabella in a bid to add creativity post-Cabaye.
And Newcastle have also strengthened up top with Ayoze Perez and Emmanuel Riviere who has signed on the dotted line in the last day.
But goals win prizes and Newcastle have today been linked with another striker who has long been on the radar of the club.
Portuguese daily A Bola says:
Ukra followed by Newcastle
Ukra, full name André Filipe Alves Monteiro, plays for Rio Ave in Portugal and has been the subject of rumours pertaining to a move to Newcastle since way back in 2009.
Having signed for Portuguese giants Porto in 2007 big things were expected of the lad. 4 loan spells followed, including his last one to Rio Ave, which sealed a permanent deal in 2013. He’s had a decent spell at Rio Ave since, scoring 4 goals in 25 games but generally offering attacking threat and creativity.
At 26 years of age now is his real opportunity for the big time and Newcastle may feel him worth a punt.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Newcastle fans: keen?
