Things have been hotting up for Newcastle in the transfer market over the last week and it appears that the club has had another breakthrough with a top target.
Various reports late Friday suggested that Newcastle have agreed a fee for the transfer of the brilliant Montpellier attacking midfielder Remy Cabella. Cabella, who made his debut for France this year, is seen as an ideal replacement for the departed Yohan Cabaye in that playmaker role behind the forwards.
Having scored 24 goals in 97 league games for Montpellier, since joining them in 2009, he’s got an eye for goal and, at 24, has a few years before he reaches his peak.
The Metro reports:
Newcastle are set to continue their summer spending after agreeing a deal for Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella.
The Frenchman is believed to be Magpies boss Alan Pardew’s top transfer target this summer as he looks to replace Yohan Cabaye, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.
And according to reports in France, Pardew has got his man for a fee believed to be around £12m.
Meanwhile The Daily Mail reckons that Newcastle certainly aren’t resting on their laurels with this transfer and that they are close to sealing another move.
Newcastle are closing on a £6million deal for Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere ahead of competition from West Bromwich Albion.
The 24 year old striker only joined Monaco last summer and has down a great ob, scoring 14 goals in 40 appearances, but may feel marginalised by the big money signings that have come into the club i.e. James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao. He looks as if he could be a real bargain for Newcastle and provide the sort of quality up froth that they are currently short of.
But let’s see the potential new boy Cabella in action. Newcastle fans: exciting times?
