Barcelona favourites to bring back a goal machine

Much of the transfer talk in world football over the last few weeks has been about whether Barcelona can complete a massive deal for the sensational yet controversial Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.

It was never going to be easy to sign a player of such calibre and the fees being discussed are astronomical. But despite ongoing and protracted negotiations for the player you do feel that a move to Barcelona is now inevitable. The selling club is buying lots of players and even shops around the Camp Nou are selling Suarez shirts.

Now that Luis Enrique has come in he seems to want to dispose of the ‘false number nine’ and he will probably require another centre forward as well as Suarez.

But with so much money going on the Uruguayan it seems as if Barcelona could be looking at the bargain bucket for extra striker signings this summer.

The fans may be interested to know that English bookmaker Bet Victor has their club as favourites to sign an ex Barcelona player this summer, at odds of 2/1.

Jonathan Soriano never made it into the first team at Barcelona during his three years at the club but did score 54 goals in 79 appearances for the B-team.

And that was no fluke as he moved to Salzburg in 2012 and scored at a similarly unbelievable rate – there he bagged 60 in 72 appearances.

He obviously knows where the goal is but, having seen him at close quarters for three years, Barcelona may have felt that there was a weakness in his game which would preclude him from being a star in La Liga.

But if they do need to add to their squad for a small amount of money this summer then surely they should bring back the Spanish forward who has turned out four times for Catalonia but never made the senior Spain team.

Let’s see him in action. Barcelona fans: worth bringing in as back up for Suarez?
