On the cusp

We all know that a media outlet can’t suggest that an individual has made a comment unless they actually have.

So when Talksport stated that Arsene Wenger has confirmed to them that a deal for Alexis Sanchez is close, it means that they are either ready to be sued or that it’s actually true.

Arsene Wenger is not about to allow the media to reference him like that unless he has actually made the remark – so we think that it’s the greatest piece of evidence yet that Alexis Sanchez is on the verge of a move to Arsenal. Talksport reports:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told talkSPORT the club expect to complete the signing of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez on Wednesday.

Meanwhile The Guardian reports Wednesday evening that:

Arsenal set to complete £30m Alexis Sánchez transfer from Barcelona
• Chile striker’s agents finalising terms on four-year contract
• Barcelona intent on wrapping up Luis Suárez deal first

After several years of real disappointment in the transfer market we know that Arsenal fans would be very apprehensive about this deal until they see the shirt on the player.

But we believe that it’s now just a matter of hours before Sanchez officially becomes an Arsenal man.

The Metro today reported that Sanchez has also agreed personal terms on a move to The Emirates.

The actual price of the fee may never be disclosed but it could be anywhere between £28m and £35m.

Arsenal are in need of extra quality out wide and up top. In Sanchez they have killed two birds with one stone because he can play in both roles to scintillating effect.

At 25 years of age he will be a long term investment but someone who will also undoubtedly improve Arsenal straight away. Once this one is done Arsenal need to concentrate on buying a central midfielder of real physical presence.

Arsenal fans: are you beginning to believe that Sanchez is yours yet?
