Arsenal linked with 278 Goal Machine – report

It’s inconceivable that Arsenal will start next season with the same roster of strikers. They desperately need to add to their forward line with a bit more variety and some serious pace.

But it could be worse for Arsenal fans. At least your number one priority for the summer isn’t a goalkeeper!

So we think that Arsenal can expect some exciting arrivals and one of the latest to be linked to the club is Holland international Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The Schalke striker has scored goals in every major league except France and England and the journeyman could be about to tick another country off his list.

The Metro says:

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is the latest player to be linked with a summer move to Arsenal.

The 30-year-old, who has one year left on his current contract, is reportedly stalling over agreeing new terms with the Bundesliga side as he’s keen on a move to a European club who can provide him with the opportunity to win trophies before he retires.

Huntelaar has scored at a magnificent rate for clubs and country – 76 in 92 for Ajax, 8 in 20 for Real Madrid and 59 in 100 league games for Schalke. Plus 35 in 63 for Holland – it’s safe to say that this guy knows where the net is.

Our one reservation about a move to Arsenal is that he doesn’t have a huge amount of the pace that we think the front line requires.

Nevertheless, as a supplement to other striker arrivals, we think he’d be a good addition and take the weight off Giroud’s broad but heavily burdened shoulders.

At 30 years of age there is still fuel in the tank of Huntelaar and he may well see Arsenal as attractive final destination in his glittering career.

Let’s see the lad in action. Arsenal fans: would he be a good signing or too similar to what you already have?
