The Metro reported late yesterday that Arsenal have now made a bid for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.
If there is substance in the rumour then it’s certainly an exciting one and we could definitely see him doing the business at Arsenal.
But in typically prudent, and some would say unrealistic fashion, Arsenal apparently made a bid of €25 million for Sanchez. The Metro says:
Arsenal have opened the bidding for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez by offering £19.4million for his services.
The Gunners have made Sanchez one of their top transfer targets after Barca officials made it clear that the Chilean can leave this summer.
Obviously that is a lot of money but, in today’s market, it seems a bit of a silly offer.
Sanchez, at 25 years old, is one of the best players in the world and he’s not even at his peak yet. He’s also been one of the stand out performers at The World Cup.
With so much other apparent interest in the services of the player, from Italy and England, you’d imagine €25 million is nowhere near enough to snare the player.
Indeed, respected Spanish daily Marca suggests that Barcelona value him far more highly.
Barcelona, however, have placed a €40m price tag around the speedster’s neck and would rather he went to Liverpool in part exchange for Suárez. The snag is that Alexis isn’t sold on a move to Anfield and his first choice remains fighting for his place at the Camp Nou.
We think that value is far more likely to be around that region and with a swap deal with Suarez potentially on Arsenal are going to have to pull their finger out if they are serious about signing the player.
In our opinion a bid of this size suggests that Arsenal aren’t quite sure whether they want him or not.

yes but you dont mention the money Barca owe Arsenal from the transfers for Song and Fabregas – let alone the sell on fee for Fab to Chelski
Clearly conjecture but if you add 7/8m for all that lot then its actually a 32m offer and probably about right…

Barça owe Arsenal f*** all any more. They sold to Chelsea for exactly the price they paid for him and thereby stuck the middle finger up at Arsenal, rightly so hahah. As for the Song transfer, they get nothing for that either. Anyone who thinks otherwise has to be dense and deluded enough to believe the bull*** English media’s pathetic rumours.

Barca in my opinion own Arsenal everything. Lets start with Petit, Overmars, Hleb, Sylvinho, Henry, Fàbregas and Song. That’s pretty damn much manpower over the years. Even our best player ever is among them!!!!!! And how many Barca players has Arsenal FC bought lately??? I can think of only Fàbregas and that’s a long damn time ago for only 1 player. 19.3 mill is just right for a starting bid plus having talks with his agent and himself in Brazil now to the weekend he will be only thus more interested!!!!!!!
