Super player

Newcastle have found the transfer market fairly hard going due to The World Cup. But it’s the same for all top teams with aspirations of international signings this summer and things will soon heat up as many to most teams fly home.

One area that potentially needs strengthening this close-season is in between the sticks. Tim Krul has done a magnificent job at Newcastle but with Elliot and Alnwick as the current back ups the club may look to invest in this window.

Some of the standout performers at this World Cup have been keepers – not least Mexico’s Guillermo Ochoa. The former Ajaccio star has performed miracles at times in the tournament but couldn’t quite keep Holland out on Sunday.

He’s now out of contract, but having down so well in the biggest shop window of all, we don’t expect that to be the case for too long.

Newcastle fans may be interested to know that bookmaker SkyBet have the club as favourites to sign Ochoa this summer, at odds of 3/1.

At 28 this guy has years left in the tank. He’s a big character and a commanding presence in his area, as well as having cat-like reflexes and agility. We think he’d be a super signing for Newcastle.

Let’s see him in action. Newcastle fans: keen?

He is outstanding but why would we want another keeper when its clearly obvious we don’t have a striker and should be focusing on that?

Because as most would surmise, Krul is off to the continent and this guy is a hell of a replacement.

and even if krul doesn’t leave, he’s much better than Elliot and Alnwick.
