Most Arsenal fans hope that the club will finally sign a commanding central midfielder this summer after years of frustration at not getting one in.

And latest reports suggest that Arsenal might be in for one of the best.

It’s anyone’s guess why Real Madrid wouldn’t want Sami Khedira but they may be prepared to offload him and have been strongly linked with a move for Toni Kroos as a possible replacement.

Arsenal too have been linked with Arturo Vidal but, if a bidding war breaks out, then you would imagine Arsene Wenger would not be keen to pursue the player.

But one of the bi-products of the Kroos deal could be the availability of Sami Khedira.

And, if this does happen, we are trying to think of one good reason why the Arsenal manager shouldn’t snap this guy up.

The Mirror reports today:

Arsenal ‘eye £23 million (28.7m Euros) move’ for Real Madrid star Sami Khedira

The 27-year-old is reportedly wanted at the Emirates to strengthen Arsene Wenger’s midfield

Okay so he’s not the most technically brilliant player in the world. That’s not to say he is poor with the ball at his feet. But the Arsenal manager surely understands that a world class first touch is not necessarily what is required from a holding midfielder anyway.

Arsenal need someone to break up attacks when the opposition has the ball and just offer a little bit more solidity than they currently have – to make them a little bit harder to play through.

At that price it looks like an absolute no-brainer of a deal if the story does have substance.

Because Khedira is not just someone who sits in front of the defence. He is an excellent box to box midfielder with an unbelievable engine and someone who also offers goal threat. He’s an all round team man and we are sure that he would be a credit to Arsenal.

Let’s see him in action: Arsenal fans: no-brainer?
