Finally, after all the speculation, Manchester United have done some business which will put a smile on the faces of the fans today.
Because these aren’t Marouane Fellaini style deals. The signing of the Belgian last summer was met with curiosity and concern.
But, in Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, Manchester United have bought world stars of the future – players who will signal a bright new dawn for the club.
Not since Paul Scholes have Manchester United had a true creator in the middle – someone who can orchestrate attacks, flummox the opposition and control the tempo of the game. Ander Herrera was so desperate to come to Manchester United that he reportedly bought out his contract to get the deal done. He has signed on the dotted line for a fee of £28.8m – confirmed by Manchester United last night.
Manchester United is delighted to announce that, after triggering the buy-out clause in his contract on Tuesday, it has signed Spanish central midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Club in Bilbao, pending the receipt of the International Transfer Certificate. He joins on a four-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.
As for Shaw there has been no official announcement as yet, but many sources have reported that he is in Manchester for his medical ahead of a deal for between £30-34m – a record transfer for a teenager. The Mail reported:
United will complete the £30m transfer of England left-back Shaw on Friday just 24 hours after wrapping up the £28.8m purchase of Athletic Bilbao midfielder Herrera.
Although Southampton were chasing a massive £40m for 18-year-old Shaw, United have struck a deal for £30m and he will undergo his medical at Carrington today before signing a five year deal.
soccersweep has absolutely no doubt that Shaw will become a true hero at Manchester United. In what amounts to the perfect settling in period he will be fortunate enough to mentored by club legend Patrice Evra for a year before fully taking the reins.
But Shaw is already a fantastic pro. He’s fearless in the tackle, a brilliant athlete and a player who is equally comfortable attacking or defending. We strongly believe that he would have been a better choice for England at The World Cup than the muted Leighton Baines. As they say at Manchester United – if you’re good enough you’re old enough. Shaw will get ample opportunity to prove that over the coming months and years.
Whatever the price, Manchester United have got an absolute bargain for a player who can serve the club for 15 years.
With these two in the bank Manchester United must now target a defensive midfielder, a centre back and a couple of electric wingers.
Let’s see Herrera in action. Manchester United fans: happy with LvG’s shopping trip so far?

Well, well….. Happy days, but make no mistake, this is not the end. This is just the beginning of a new era for our glorious club. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards so as to move forward. I believe that we are now on the road to more good times at Old Trafford. A couple more astute signings and a couple shown the door and we can enter the new season with confidence. These young players can learn their trade the Man U way next year ready for a full assault on Europe the following year. The burden is lifting guys………

Good additions to the squad.
2 more world class center defenders are required.
Then it will be rock & roll once again.
Maybe Hummels & Indi.
De Gea [Lindegaard sub]
Rafael Hummels Indi Shaw [Smalling, Jones, Evans are sub]
Valencia Mata Herrera Januzaj [Carrick, Kagawa etc are sub]
Rooney VanPersie [Welbeck etc ae sub]
Clear out the DEAD wood like Nani, Anderson, Cleverly etc. Not sure whether Fellaini should be given one more chance since he is playing very well for Belgium.
Whether it is 442 or 4231 or 4321, quality should be EXTREMELY GOOD for MAN UTD standards & definitely LVG sill get the BEST OUT OF HIS PLAYERS.
