Some crazy prices are being quoted this summer in a transfer market which is more inflated than ever.
And Barcelona appear to be pursuing a centre back, as one of their priorities, as well as a striker.
Latest reports suggest that one of Barcelona’s top summer targets, Marquinhos, is going to cost a lot of money.
Sport.es reckons that PSG will not sell their star for less than €40 million.
But apparently Barcelona will not be deterred by the enormous price tag and will press ahead with the transfer anyway. Sport says:
40m for Marquinhos
But Barcelona will continue to try to secure the services of PSG’s central defender
soccersweep believes that is a lot of cash to pay for one player but the most important factor in this deal is his age – the lad is only 20.
If he can give 10 or 12 years service to Barcelona at the top level then it will be like signing two £20 million players. When you look at it that way he doesn’t seem so expensive. If Marquinhos is ‘doing a Puyol’ in 10 years time at Barcelona noone will be moaning about his price. And that’s the plan for this guy.
With Gerard Pique having a poor year, by his standards, and Carlos Puyol at the end of his career Barcelona is in serious need of reinforcements in that department.
Even at such a young age Marquinhos looks like he’s got the lot. He’s not only a really solid stopper but also has great feet and would fit into the Barcelona style perfectly.
Let’s take another look at him in action. Barcelona fans: worth the money?
