Liverpool ready to sign wonder kid – report

Prodigy alert

With confusion reigning over the future of Luis Suarez, after the latest biting incident at The World Cup, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would be well advised to stock up on strikers this summer.

Because, with news of the 4 month ban, Liverpool are looking at a protracted period without his services at the beginning of next season. And with a tough looking start to the campaign Liverpool will want to hit the ground running.

One reported target, Divock Origi, has has seen his profile rise rapidly at The World Cup as he became Belgium’s youngest ever player to score at the tournament in the win against Russia. While he may not fill the void immediately, it appears that Liverpool are serious about taking him.

Seen as a rising star of Belgian football he may well move to The Premier League this summer, with a host of clubs reportedly interested in his signature.

The Express reports that Liverpool have moved ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham in the queue to sign the player with his current club Lille wanting to keep the forward on loan next season.

The Express says:

LIVERPOOL are ready to sign teenage striking sensation Divock Origi who became Belgium’s youngest goalscorer at the World Cup.

Tottenham and Arsenal had also been linked for the forward, however it appears the Belgian is heading for Anfield.

After moving from Genk in 2010 Origi worked his way up the ranks at Lille and has made 40 leagues appearances for the first team since his promotion to the senior squad in 2012. He’s scored 6 league goals in that time.

The 19 year old’s rise to prominence in the Belgian side has been equally impressive as he’s forced his way into the World Cup squad after making his debut earlier in the year.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans: could you imagine this guy doing the business for the club?
