Busy summer

Spain had an absolute shocker last night – completely out thought and outmuscled by Chile.

Trying to look on the positive side, as we do, the one benefit for Spain and the Spanish league is that everyone can now concentrate on preparations for the new club season.

Barcelona have been busy in the transfer market already with many players linked and a couple of deals close.

But it won’t just be arrivals for Barcelona this summer as the squad looks old in some areas.

And reports today suggest that one of Barcelona’s greatest ever players has agreed to join another club.

Marca says that is Xavi has reportedly accepted terms on a move to Al Arabi.

Al Arabi manager Dan Petrescu has claimed Barcelona star Xavi Hernández has agreed to join his side. The former Chelsea defender insists the Spain international has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Qatari club.
The midfielder has spent his entire career with the Catalan giants but it seems his time at the Nou Camp is coming to an end with Al Arabi seemingly in the driving seat to sign him.

Xavi is a player who will be sorely missed by Barcelona as he, as much as anyone, symbolised the golden era of success for the club.

Replacing him will be extremely difficult and now that Cesc Fabregas has left the club an obvious option for that role has disappeared. Barcelona fans will hope that Ivan Rakitic can go some way to fill the hole but we believe that Barcelona will need to sign at least one more midfielder this summer.

Let us remind ourselves of the glory of Xavi. Barcelona fans: will he be impossible to replace?
