A lot of the transfer news in England over the last few days has pertained to a battle between Barcelona and Real Madrid for the services of a certain Uruguayan striker over the summer.
Reports suggest that the auction could reach as high as £100 million for the 27 your old maestro.
You’d have to say that, even at that price, he’s worth the cash in today’s market.
And you do feel that Barcelona will make one marquee signing this summer. But if they don’t manage to bring in a striker perhaps they will try to sign a superstar who plays a little closer to home.
Because British bookmakers Skybet has made Barcelona favourites to sign the brilliant Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke if he does move this summer.
At olds of 5/4 Barcelona are clear favourites for Koke’s signature.
Unfortunately, due to the cruel economics of modern football, it seems as if a lot of the triumphant Atletico side will be broken up this summer and Koke is one of the jewels in the crown.
At just 22 years of age he will be expected to lead the next vintage Spain side and Barcelona could certainly use his dynamism in the centre of the park.
With Messi and Neymar already at the club you might argue that Barcelona needs a new midfielder more than another striker.
Cesc Fabrregas has left the club and Alex Song could well depart the Camp Nou this summer – so Barcelona need some more identity in the heart of their side.
We think that, although he would not come cheap, Koke would be an unbelievable player for Barcelona. He’s so classy and has a fantastic engine, allowing him to cover the defence, control the middle of the park and score goals.
Let’s take a look at him in action. Barcelona fans: would Koke be worth the crazy money that the club would need to sign the him?
