Arsenal linked with a brilliant yet sensible transfer solution

Arsene-Wenger

Arsenal need more strength in the middle

Now this story seems to make a lot of sense.

While much of the media has preoccupied itself with the idea that Cesc may return to Arsenal this summer, reports today suggest that Arsene is looking for a more sensible option.

Cesc may well want to return to The Premier League this summer. But Arsenal already have so many good creative midfielders that it’s hard to know where the boy would fit in. Of course, when players of this quality become available Arsenal should always in the market.

But they surely need a defensive midfielder more urgently.

And The Daily Mail suggests that Arsenal are about to bid for Sven Bender.

But Arsenal are poised to make a move from Sven Bender, the 25-year-old Borussia Dortmund mid-fielder and with Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla already in the usual Fabregas role, the Gunners are likely to strengthen with a more defensive midfield player.

Arsenal have previously been interested in Bender’s twin brother, Lars, and bid £18m for him last summer, only to be turned down by Bayer Leverkusen.

Lars has since signed a new contract and is currently injured but Arsenal hope they can lure Sven from Dortmund with a £15m bid after he failed to make the Germany World Cup squad.

soccersweep thinks that Bender would be a brilliant player for Arsenal and provide the steal that they need in the middle of the park.

Arsenal played consistently lovely looking football last season against the lesser sides but were regularly overrun in the midfield against the bigger sides.

Bender could give them a little bit more mettle when backs are against the wall. He’s mobile, technically astute and highly disciplined.

You’ve guessed it. We’re going to take a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans – good enough?
