Arsenal have been linked once again with Swansea and Wales captain Ashley Williams. The Metro said earlier this week:
Arsenal are ready to make a £3million bid for Swansea City captain Ashley Williams after he asked to leave the Welsh club.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of centre back Williams, and tried to bring him to the Emirates Stadium last summer.
You might think it a paltry sum for such a solid and composed Premier League defender but, with only 12 months left on his contract, Williams can walk away for nothing in a year. So it seems that a transfer will happen in this window.
SkyBet have now made Arsenal 3/1 favourite to sign the player this summer in what could amount to an absolute bargain.
The 29 year old has played 273 times for Swansea across three divisions since joining the club in 2007 – he’s scored 12 times in that period. Williams has also had plenty of defending practice for a pretty poor Wales side and has represented them on 45 occasions since 2008.
There is sometimes a snobbishness about signing British players from smaller clubs. But we think that Williams could be an excellent medium-term solution for Arsenal to add depth to the squad while keeping most of the gunpowder dry for the strikers and defensive midfielder that the club so patently needs to sign this summer.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans is Williams good enough for your lot?

sounds like a good squad player, along with eric dier for 4.8m and pantelemon on a free ,thats the reserve backs sorted. add serge aurieur to cover jenkinson on r.b. then morato s/t dimaria st/w and carlos vala. the lot should be around £40million and all the fire power we need for the price of fabrigas .

morata will be good but we are still in dire need of a cinical finisher to bang in the goals. Mancity has up to five of such. Lets get them too.
