So Brendan Rodgers has signed a new deal with Liverpool which will be a big relief to most fans of the club.
Liverpool and Rodgers can now concentrate on recruitment for the summer.
As ever The World Cup will introduce some unheralded stars onto the world scene and draw the interest of top clubs.
That said Liverpool and most other clubs will already have a largely completed shortlist of desired recruits drawn up.
Recent reports suggest that one of the players on Liverpool’s shortlist may be Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie:
Liverpool’s manager Brendan Rodgers will have no doubt been thinking about the lads from Crystal Palace once or twice during the last three weeks or so. That may or may not explain why he’s about to make a bid for winger Yannick Bolasie
Liverpool fans will remember him as a player who contributed to the Palace fightback in the dramatic 3-3 draw that pretty much put paid to Liverpool’s title challenge this season.
Bolasie may still lack consistency at the age of 25 and still doesn’t score many goals (3 in 72 league games for Palace). But he has the sort of fleet-footed unpredictability seen in many of the world’s top players.
Personally we feel that Liverpool could do better than Bolasie. He’s a mercurial talent but one who doesn’t seem to be able to turn the genius tap on and off at will. Instead you see fleeting moments of jaw-dropping brilliance from the lad. Still he’s a firm favourite at his current club and may be worth a punt to add some more pace on the wings.
Let’s take a look at some of Bolasie’s better moments. Liverpool fans: do you reckon that he could do a job at Anfield?

Wasn’t it the youngster Dwight Gayle that destroyed us? Surely, if Liverpool were going to be linked with a Crystal Palace player from that fateful day, it’d be the youngster that got the brace and not the random winger that got the random assist.
