Manchester United & Manchester City to have another ding dong?

It’s not the first time and it certainly won’t be the last that Manchester United and Manchester City come face-to-face for the same prize.

It may of course just be tabloid tittle tattle in this instance but we always maintain that there is seldom smoke without fire.

And this time the prize is Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

We all know about Manchester United’s protracted and ultimately failed pursuit of the player last summer. You would have thought that they had taken enough humiliation in order to give up on signing the player by now.

But perhaps they will get their way after all as reports suggest that the player could be open to a move.

With Manchester City’s spending power you always have to pay attention when they are in the market for a player. If they are serious about taking the brilliant midfielder then they could surely outbid Manchester United.

But the question we would immediately raise is where Manchester City would fit Fabregas into their side? With the creative talents of Navas and Silva alongside Fernandinho and Yaya Toure the most obvious position for Fabregas might be on the bench.

Conversely Manchester United could certainly use the player. He could be easily the fulcrum of the entire team. Either way both teams look set to strengthen this summer and the report suggests that both could be interested.

The MEN reported this week:

Cesc Fabregas could be chased by BOTH Manchester sides this summer as his Barcelona future remains uncertain.

Fabregas is a majestic footballer who always appears to have time on the ball – the hallmark of any great player.

He has scored 42 goals and provided 48 assists during his 48 games at Barcelona yet rumours persist that he could move clubs again.

He would certainly be welcome back in The Premier League. Let’s see the lad in action.

Manchester United and Manchester City fans can you see this one going anywhere?
